“My work communicates various messages but the principal message that I intend to communicate is that beauty can be found in the ugliest of things, times and situations. Hardship is inevitable in the lives of all but I believe this shouldn't take away from the quality of life but enhance the beautiful moments in everyday life that are so often overlooked.
For me creating art has always been my own sort of therapy, it is a way to express my thoughts and emotions in my own unique way. My level 3 painting portfolio depicts my battle with depression and mental illness. Depression and mental illness is ugly in the way it affects so many lives but from my experience I was inspired to create a portfolio of work that others may be able to relate to and derive meaning from. The beauty of helping others by having my own voice through my art is what I am able to take away from my experience.
My art has saved me in so many ways, the process of creating something that is unique and specific to me is a very rewarding and special process. When life gets hard, art is always something to hold onto and for this I am extremely grateful."
