"I was inspired to create this piece because I was studying the genre of pop-art. I took inspiration from the work of Roy Lichtenstein and used him as one of the main artist models for a series of 3 pieces. My theme for this series was phobias and this specific one is a phobia called ‘Fructophobia’ which is the fear of fruit.

I enjoyed the process of making these pieces as I really like this style and using the paint pens as I had never used them before. I used the different bold colours because generally bright bold colours are what are used for pop-art type artwork. Switching the colours for the bananas and oranges came from Roy Lichtenstein as that’s something that he has done in his art."
