Christchurch based photographer Sophie Sutherland pulls inspiration from fellow New Zealand artist Fiona Pardington, the Vanitas movement and 17th Century Dutch still life paintings.
With an interest in capturing the beauty in life through contrasting it with depth, her work often promotes thoughts of delicate beauty, its fragility, power and the balance between life and death.
Currently she is working on a botanic series concept centred around vivid colours and fantasy, along with a black and white portraiture series.
