    Madeline Hann

"The inspiration for my painting lies within the human condition and the essence of domestic interiors. I aim to suggest a mood or a feeling by placing the viewer in the presence of absence. By rendering this room without people or active storytelling, I hope to convey the sense of a persisting life force in the space, as if someone has just departed.

To me, all furniture is bound to communicate meaning. A bed speaks of our inner lives, an ambiguous realm between something personal and yet common to all. The subject matter of this painting gives substance to absence, exploring the ways in which the imagery can offer past as present. Overall, I wish for my work to achieve an emotional connection between the viewer’s subjective experience and mine."
