“This photograph is part of a series that I created during lockdown in 2020, and my aim was to capture the slowness of life that I experienced during this time. I photographed different things that came to represent life within my bubble, such as spending more time with my family, trying new hobbies to fill the time, and going for walks around my neighbourhood. This particular building also became a covid-19 hotel, where people had to quarantine for a couple weeks before entering New Zealand. Looking at this photograph now in Level 1, I am immediately transported back to that time when the days felt stretched out and I felt like I was stuck in a time loop, doing the same things every day."
