    Katie Moore

"I want to reveal the beauty of people and nature interacting with one another. I think that New Zealand’s natural bush is absolutely stunning and we need to take advantage of it and protect it. The bush that is our backyard is so often forgotten about and I aim to inspire change in this area. The figures in my paintings are simply loving where they are and existing peacefully in the environment. Instead of either making the people or the environment the focal point, they are both suggestive and share the spotlight. This emphasises how both people and the environment are coexisting peacefully with one another.

I have always loved being outside and exploring nature. I think the New Zealand native bush is beautiful and should be something that is shared with the world. Most of my art is based on scenes from Queen Charlotte Sound which is a place of great significance to me. It’s a place where I’ve been able to escape my whole life. A place where you can just relax and be present where you are, not worrying about the busyness and stress of everyday life. The bush is so vibrant and full of life and it is truly beautiful to be able to interact with it. I want to convey this feeling of escape and natural beauty through my art."
