Jessica Cournane

“I really enjoy creating art work of subject matter that is considered beautiful but making them appear more grotesque. I do this by using a gestural application of paint and sometimes I juxtapose images of the beautiful and combine it with more grotesque images. I enjoy being able to see physical brush work. 

I often have quite intense dreams and I like to paint them. I get sleep paralysis and insomnia so the work that I create often reflects what I am going through at the time."
