Ava Winstanley-Harris
"My work explores how to turn ordinary spaces into something more meaningful through the medium of painting. Specifically, I aim to create nostalgic atmospheres that also distort reality to connect with viewers, using physical spaces to express emotion.
All my life I was drawn to shapes, patterns, and unique spaces. When I was young, my parent’s workshop/art studio felt as if it came from another world. This is where my mum would spend hours working on art of her own. I liked to admire her work and the space she worked in, which I believe inspired the way I approach art now.
My biggest influences include Richard Dieben-korn, Pablo Picasso, David Hockney, Jude Ray and, of course, my mum, Rebecca Harris. Their styles have shaped the way I use colour, composition, and perspective to transform everyday moments into something more."
