“For my art I wanted to experiment with different techniques in order to create still lifes to challenge and push myself creatively. I wanted to be able to take simple objects and enhance them through different techniques and colour palettes. My artwork consists of many symbols that invoke the memories of holidays spent in Wānaka with my family. The objects that serve as the subject for my pieces remind me of not only my family and our history, but also the history of the landscape and environment that encompasses Lake Wānaka. I have been influenced by Morandi as I developed my still life paintings as I was inspired by his simple compositions and painterly brush strokes."
